Having an ongoing SEO Campaign is great, but you have to answer the phone. Nothing surprises me more than a business that does not pick up the phone, to me a missed called is a missed opportunity. What’s more frustrating is when my clients voice mail is full. Why bother running any advertising if the calls just go to waste. If people understood the amount of work that goes into properly performing SEO and what it takes to make the phone ring they would maybe have a little more respect for Mr. telephone.

I understand that the average business person is not a marketing guru, but my goodness there should be some respect for having the phone ring and the potential for new clients. That little telephone is truly your portal to additional clients and thus additional revenue which should lead to additional profits.

Here is the other line I love when I speak to a SEO client; I’ll say, wow good month, looks like the phone rang twenty times. Now twenty calls may not seem huge, but when we only charge the client $249 what can you expect? And then the clients gives me this gem, yea, but I really did not book enough jobs. Well if you want me to make the phone ring and handle the calls maybe I should get out of the SEO Business and start a new venture. There must be some type of connection between how much you spend and the results you expect. When you think about it I’m not sure where you can advertise for $249 a month and get any activity from the expenditure?

Internet Marketing
I know Internet Marketing seems so mysterious to most. What does it all mean, Google, Yahoo & Bing. And whats with the 700 search engines and thousands of directories. Last face it, in this respect the old days were great. The Telephone book salesperson would call you three months before the next book was set to be published and you would need to decide just how big of an ad you wanted. Typically you knew what to expect and realized if you increased your budget you would probably increase your calls and hence the amount of business you would do.

Sorry to say those days are long gone. Get with it baby, today we have Google (number one search engine), Bing, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Face Book and many more alternatives to choose from. And what in the world is PPC or CPC? Can someone please speak English? So whats the average person do when they don’t understand something, NOTHING! And doing nothing in business is never the right path.

PPC & CPC ?
OK, it’s really simple. Want to advertise on page one of Google? No problem, PPC stands for Pay Per Click and CPC stands for Cost Per Click. Right about here is where I lose half the audience. The average business guy understands paying for a phone call, but pay for a click. Is Google crazy? Not really, Google has something very special, potential clients that are looking for exactly what you have. Sounds like a good match to me. So the cool thing is this, instantly I can get any client in any industry on page one for any search term a client may desire if they have the budget to support such a campaign.But it’s more detailed then what I’m outlining here, much goes into a proper advertising campaign on Google, trust me. I know plenty of folks that have literally grown there business only using Google paid advertising. I also know plenty of folks that spent thousands and thousands of dollars and got nothing in return. A paid campaign is part art and mostly science.

Organic? Well that’s what they call it. If you do not pay to be on page one of Google you can always try getting there naturally. Here’s where I lose the other half of my audience. When you type in a search term (keyword) into a search engine and the results appear that’s what we call organic. Organic in the sense that you have not paid Google for the privilege to be there. So you’re thinking why would any one pay to advertise on page one of Google? Appearing on page one of Google organically is no easy task. In most industries the level of competition is such that you may never appear on page one. And I will assure you of one thing, if your really good at the SEO Game and spend lots and lots of time you stand a good chance at making it happen. Or pay a SEO Company that has the experience, integrity and man power to make it happen. And there’s the rub, finding a legitimate SEO Company that’s not out to steal your money.
